Job summary

Royal Mail Group in Nottingham is seeking a Postie (Postal Delivery Driver) on a fixed-term contract for 6 months. You will deliver letters and parcels by van and on foot in the local area, following a rotating shift that includes weekends and varying routes.

You'll need a full manual UK driving licence, be able to pass a driving assessment, and stay physically fit to handle long walks and lifting 10kg+ mailbags while delivering reliable, customer-focused service outdoors.

Location: Nottingham North Delivery Office, NG5 6DD

Job type: Fixed Termcontract (6 months)

Salary: £13.68 per hour* (paid monthly) + paid overtime available. Working hours: 30hours per week - working 5 days in 7 across Monday - Sunday -07:00/20:00*

You'll work on a rotating shift schedule, including some weekends. Your rota will confirm your hours and delivery routes, which may vary based on demand.

You'll be required to work Sundays as needed.

What to expect

This role is physically demanding and fast-paced:

• Walking long distances (up to 12 miles / 20,000+ steps)
• Driving a Royal Mail van daily

• Busy, time-pressured days, especially during peak periods

About you

We'll provide full training, a uniform, and an iconic red van. You'll need:

• A full manual UK driving licence (maximum 6 penalty points, registered to your current name and address)
• Willingness to drive a Royal Mail van daily and able to pass a driving assessment
• Physically fit and comfortable walking long distances, climbing stairs / hills, and lifting / carrying 10kg+ mailbags
• Reliable and self-motivated
• Strong organisation and resilience in a busy environment
• Customer-focused, with pride in delivering great service
• Comfortable working outdoors and independently
