Job summary

Royal Mail in Market Rasen is seeking a Postie (Postal Delivery Driver) to join our team on a permanent basis. You will sort letters and parcels at the delivery office, deliver post by van and on foot in your local area, and build relationships with customers while working outdoors in all weathers.

The role requires a full manual UK driving licence, willingness to drive a Royal Mail van and pass a driving assessment, and the fitness to walk long distances plus lift mailbags.

Job type: Permanent contract

Salary: £13.68 per hour* (paid monthly) + paid overtime available.
Working hours: 30:00hours per week – working 5 days in 7 across Monday - Sunday – 10:00/16:00*

You’ll work on a rotating shift schedule, including some weekends. Your rota will confirm your hours and delivery routes, which may vary based on demand.

This role is physically demanding and fast-paced:

• Walking long distances (up to 12 miles / 20,000+ steps)
• Working in all weather conditions
• Delivering letters and high volumes of parcels
• Busy, time-pressured days, especially during peak periods

About you

We’ll provide full training, a uniform, and an iconic red van. You’ll need:

• A full manual UK driving licence (maximum 6 penalty points, registered to your current name and address)
• Willingness to drive a Royal Mail van daily and able to pass a driving assessment
• Physically fit and comfortable walking long distances, climbing stairs / hills, and lifting / carrying 10kg+ mailbags
• Reliable and self-motivated
• Strong organisation and resilience in a busy environment
• Customer-focused, with pride in delivering great service
• Comfortable working outdoors and independently
