Job summary

Royal Mail Mold Delivery Office is seeking a Postie (Postal Delivery Driver) to join our fixed-term 6-month team. You will sort mail at the office, deliver letters and parcels by van and on foot in your local area, and build relationships with customers while working outdoors in all weathers.

The role offers 30 hours per week on a rotating shift, some weekend work, and the chance to be the face of our trusted service in Mold.

Qualifications

• A full manual UK driving licence with up to 6 penalty points.
• Willingness to drive a Royal Mail van daily and pass a driving assessment.
• Physically fit to walk long distances, climb stairs/hills and lift 10 kg+ mailbags.
• Reliable, self-motivated and well-organised in a busy environment.
• Customer-focused with pride in delivering great service outdoors.

Job type: Fixed Term contract, 6 months

Salary: £13.68 per hour* (paid monthly) + paid overtime available.

Working hours: 30:00 hours per week – working 5 days in 7 across Monday - Sunday – supporting two separate shifts between 08:00/18:00*

You’ll work on a rotating shift schedule, including some weekends. Your rota will confirm your hours and delivery routes, which may vary based on demand.

You’ll be required to work 1/3 Sundays at Chester Delivery Office.

What To Expect

This role is physically demanding and fast-paced:

• Walking long distances (up to 12 miles / 20,000+ steps)
• Driving a Royal Mail van daily
• Working in all weather conditions
• Delivering letters and high volumes of parcels
• Busy, time-pressured days, especially during peak periods

About You

We’ll provide full training, a uniform, and an iconic red van. You’ll need:

• A full manual UK driving licence (maximum 6 penalty points, registered to your current name and address)
• Willingness to drive a Royal Mail van daily and able to pass a driving assessment
• Physically fit and comfortable walking long distances, climbing stairs / hills, and lifting / carrying 10kg+ mailbags
• Reliable and self-motivated
• Strong organisation and resilience in a busy environment
• Customer-focused, with pride in delivering great service
• Comfortable working outdoors and independently
