Job summary

Royal Mail is hiring a Postie to join the Nottingham North Delivery Office. This fixed-term role (6 months) covers 30 hours per week, with a 07:00–20:00 shift pattern across Monday–Sunday and potential weekend duties.

You will deliver letters and parcels by van and on foot, while building customer relationships in all weathers. You must hold a full UK manual driving licence (max 6 penalty points), be physically capable of walking long distances and lifting 10 kg+ mailbags, and be reliable with

Location: Nottingham North Delivery Office, NG5 6DD

Job type: Fixed Term contract (6 months)

Salary: £13.68 per hour* (paid monthly) + paid overtime available.

Working hours: 30 hours per week - working 5 days in 7 across Monday - Sunday - 07:00/20:00*

You’ll work on a rotating shift schedule, including some weekends. Your rota will confirm your hours and delivery routes, which may vary based on demand.

What To Expect

This role is physically demanding and fast-paced:

• Walking long distances (up to 12 miles / 20,000+ steps)
• Driving a Royal Mail van daily
• Working in all weather conditions

• Busy, time-pressured days, especially during peak periods

About You

We'll provide full training, a uniform, and an iconic red van. You'll need:

• A full manual UK driving licence (maximum 6 penalty points, registered to your current name and address)
• Willingness to drive a Royal Mail van daily and able to pass a driving assessment
• Physically fit and comfortable walking long distances, climbing stairs / hills, and lifting / carrying 10kg+ mailbags
• Reliable and self-motivated
• Strong organisation and resilience in a busy environment
• Customer-focused, with pride in delivering great service
• Comfortable working outdoors and independently
