Job summary

Royal Mail Group in Ellesmere Port is seeking a delivery driver on a fixed-term 6‑month contract. The role is 30 hours per week, paid at £13.68 per hour (paid monthly) with overtime available.

You'll sort letters and parcels, deliver by van and on foot in your local area, and build relationships with customers. You'll work outdoors in all weathers, pass a driving assessment, wear a uniform, and be provided with full training and a red Royal Mail van.

Qualifications

• Full manual UK driving licence and willingness to pass a driving assessment.
• Physically fit and comfortable walking long distances (up to 12 miles) and lifting 10kg+ mailbags.
• Reliable, self-motivated and customer-focused with pride in delivering great service.
• Strong organisational skills and resilience in a busy environment.

Job type: Fixed Termcontract 6 months

Salary: £13.68 per hour* (paid monthly) + paid overtime available.
Working hours: 30:00hours per week - working 5 days in 7 across Monday - Sunday - 08:30/15:00*

What to expect

This role is physically demanding and fast-paced:

• Walking long distances (up to 12 miles / 20,000+ steps)
• Driving a Royal Mail van daily
• Working in all weather conditions
• Delivering letters and high volumes of parcels
• Busy, time-pressured days, especially during peak periods

About you

We'll provide full training, a uniform, and an iconic red van. You'll need:

• A full manual UK driving licence (maximum 6 penalty points, registered to your current name and address)
• Willingness to drive a Royal Mail van daily and able to pass a driving assessment
• Physically fit and comfortable walking long distances, climbing stairs / hills, and lifting / carrying 10kg+ mailbags
• Reliable and self-motivated
• Strong organisation and resilience in a busy environment
• Customer-focused, with pride in delivering great service
• Comfortable working outdoors and independently
