Job summary

Royal Mail in Maesteg is recruiting a Postie (Postal Delivery Driver) on a fixed-term 6‑month contract. The role is 30 hours per week with a rotating shift pattern across Monday to Sunday, delivering letters and parcels in your local area.

You’ll drive a Royal Mail van, walk routes, and engage with customers outdoors in all weather. Full training and a branded uniform are provided, with Sundays required at Bridgend Delivery Office.

Qualifications

• Full manual UK driving licence (no more than 6 penalty points).
• Ability to pass a driving assessment and work outdoors in all weather.
• Reliable, self-motivated and customer-focused with good organisation.

Job type: Fixed Term

Contract: 6 months

Salary: £13.68 per hour* (paid monthly) + paid overtime available.

Working hours: 30.00 hours per week – working rotational shift patterns to be advised by the Hiring Manager at interview across Monday - Sunday

Monday - Saturday hours: 09:30 - 16:00 / 12:00 - 19:00

Sunday hours: 11:00 - 18:00

What To Expect

This role is physically demanding and fast-paced:

• Walking long distances (up to 12 miles / 20,000+ steps)
• Driving a Royal Mail van daily

About You

We’ll provide full training, a uniform, and an iconic red van. You’ll need:

• A full manual UK driving licence (maximum 6 penalty points, registered to your current name and address)
• Willingness to drive a Royal Mail van daily and able to pass a driving assessment
• Physically fit and comfortable walking long distances, climbing stairs / hills, and lifting / carrying 10kg+ mailbags
• Reliable and self-motivated
• Strong organisation and resilience in a busy environment
• Customer-focused, with pride in delivering great service
• Comfortable working outdoors and independently
