Job summary

Royal Mail is looking for a Postie (Postal Delivery Driver) in Pontypridd at the Pontypridd Delivery Office. This fixed-term contract lasts six months and covers 30 hours per week with rotating shifts Monday–Sunday, 09:00/16:00 or 10:00/18:00. Sundays are required.

Full training provided, uniform and a red Royal Mail van supplied. You will sort letters and parcels, deliver by van and on foot, and build relationships with customers while working outdoors in all weather conditions.

Qualifications

• Full manual UK driving licence (max 6 penalty points)
• Willingness to drive a Royal Mail van daily and pass a driving assessment
• Physically fit and able to walk long distances

Job type: Fixed Termcontract for six months

Salary: £13.68 per hour* (paid monthly) + paid overtime available.
Working hours: 30:00hours per week - working 5days in 7 across Monday - Sunday - 09:00/16:00 or 10:00/18:00*

You’ll work on a rotating shift schedule, including some weekends. Your rota will confirm your hours and delivery routes, which may vary based on demand.

What to expect

This role is physically demanding and fast-paced:

• Walking long distances (up to 12 miles / 20,000+ steps)
• Driving a Royal Mail van daily

About you

We’ll provide full training, a uniform, and an iconic red van. You’ll need:

• Willingness to drive a Royal Mail van daily and able to pass a driving assessment
• Physically fit and comfortable walking long distances, climbing stairs / hills, and lifting / carrying 10kg+ mailbags

• Comfortable working outdoors and independently
