Job summary

Royal Mail is seeking a Postie (Postal Delivery Driver) at Bridgend to deliver letters and parcels across the local area. You will work a rotating 30-hour week on a 6-month fixed-term contract, with shifts 09:00–20:00 and Sundays as required.

You’ll receive full training, a uniform, and a Royal Mail van. The role involves outdoor work in all weathers, building customer relationships, and meeting daily targets.

Qualifications

• Full manual UK driving licence (maximum 6 penalty points)
• Willingness to drive a Royal Mail van daily and pass a driving assessment
• Physically fit and able to walk long distances, climb stairs/hills, and lift/carry 10kg+ mailbags

Job description

Location: Bridgend Delivery Office, CF31 1ZZ

Job type: Fixed Term contract, 6 months

Salary: £13.68 per hour* (paid monthly) + paid overtime available.

Working hours: 30.00 hours per week – working 6 days out of 7 days, across Monday to Sunday, 4 weeks on rota, 5th week off – supporting two separate shifts between 09:00/20:00*

You’ll work on a rotating shift schedule, including some weekends. Your rota will confirm your hours and delivery routes, which may vary based on demand.

You’ll be required to work 2/5 Sundays at Bridgend Delivery Office.

• Walking long distances (up to 12 miles / 20,000+ steps)

About You

We’ll provide full training, a uniform, and an iconic red van. You’ll need:

• A full manual UK driving licence (maximum 6 penalty points, registered to your current name and address)
• Willingness to drive a Royal Mail van daily and able to pass a driving assessment
• Physically fit and comfortable walking long distances, climbing stairs / hills, and lifting / carrying 10kg+ mailbags
• Reliable and self-motivated
• Strong organisation and resilience in a busy environment
• Customer-focused, with pride in delivering great service
• Comfortable working outdoors and independently
