Royal Mail Group in Welshpool is hiring a Postie to sort letters and parcels, and deliver by van and on foot across the local area. The role involves building relationships with customers and working outdoors in all weather. It is a fixed term contract for 6 months, 30 hours per week on a rotating shift, with weekends possible.

You will need a full manual UK driving licence, be physically fit, and ready to pass a driving assessment. Training is provided, and overtime is available.

Job type: Fixed Term contract for 6 months

Salary: £13.68 per hour* (paid monthly) + paid overtime available.
Working hours: 30:00hours per week - working 5days in 7 across Monday - Sunday - 09:40am/15:40am*

You’ll work on a rotating shift schedule, including some weekends. Your rota will confirm your hours and delivery routes, which may vary based on demand.

You’ll be required to work the occasional Sundays at Shrewsbury Delivery Office.

What to expect

This role is physically demanding and fast-paced:

• Walking long distances (up to 12 miles / 20,000+ steps)
• Driving a Royal Mail van daily

About you

We’ll provide full training, a uniform, and an iconic red van. You’ll need:

• A full manual UK driving licence (maximum 6 penalty points, registered to your current name and address)
• Willingness to drive a Royal Mail van daily and able to pass a driving assessment
• Physically fit and comfortable walking long distances, climbing stairs / hills, and lifting / carrying 10kg+ mailbags
• Reliable and self-motivated
• Strong organisation and resilience in a busy environment
• Customer-focused, with pride in delivering great service
• Comfortable working outdoors and independently
