Job summary

Royal Mail Ellesmere Port is seeking a Postal Delivery Driver (Postie) to deliver letters and parcels by van and on foot, building strong relationships with customers in the local area.

The role involves rotating shifts, 30 hours per week, five days in seven across Monday to Sunday, with weekend work and one in five Sundays. Full training is provided, plus a uniform and the iconic red van.

Qualifications

• Full manual UK driving licence (maximum 6 penalty points).
• Willingness to drive a Royal Mail van daily and pass a driving assessment.
• Physically fit and able to walk long distances, stairs/hills, and lift 10kg+.

Job type: Fixed Term contract 6 months

Salary: £13.68 per hour* (paid monthly) + paid overtime available. Working hours: 30:00 hours per week - working 5 days in 7 across Monday - Sunday - 08:30/15:00*

You’ll work on a rotating shift schedule, including some weekends. Your rota will confirm your hours and delivery routes, which may vary based on demand.

You’ll be required to work one in five Sundays at Ellesmere Port Delivery Office 10:00/16:30

About you

We’ll provide full training, a uniform, and an iconic red van. You’ll need:

• A full manual UK driving licence (maximum 6 penalty points, registered to your current name and address)
• Willingness to drive a Royal Mail van daily and able to pass a driving assessment
• Physically fit and comfortable walking long distances, climbing stairs / hills, and lifting / carrying 10kg+ mailbags
• Reliable and self-motivated
• Strong organisation and resilience in a busy environment
• Customer-focused, with pride in delivering great service
• Comfortable working outdoors and independently
