Job summary

Royal Mail in Dunfermline is seeking a Postal Delivery Driver (Postie) on a fixed-term 9‑month contract. You will deliver letters and parcels in your local area using a Royal Mail van and on foot, on a rotating schedule with weekends possible.

Full training is provided. A full manual UK driving licence, ability to pass a driving assessment, and being physically fit for long walking distances in all weathers are essential. You’ll work independently with a focus on customer service.

Job type: Fixed Term contract 9 months

Salary: £13.68 per hour* (paid monthly) + paid overtime available. Working hours: 23:00 hours per week – working 4 days across Monday - Sunday – 10:00am/21:00pm*

You’ll work on a rotating shift schedule, including some weekends. Your rota will confirm your hours and delivery routes, which may vary based on demand.

This role is physically demanding and fast-paced:

• Walking long distances (up to 12 miles / 20,000+ steps)

About you

We’ll provide full training, a uniform, and an iconic red van. You’ll need:

• A full manual UK driving licence (maximum 6 penalty points, registered to your current name and address)
• Willingness to drive a Royal Mail van daily and able to pass a driving assessment
• Physically fit and comfortable walking long distances, climbing stairs / hills, and lifting / carrying 10kg+ mailbags
• Reliable and self-motivated
• Strong organisation and resilience in a busy environment
• Customer-focused, with pride in delivering great service
• Comfortable working outdoors and independently
