Job summary

Royal Mail in Carrickfergus is seeking a Postie (Postal Delivery Driver) to deliver letters and parcels on a daily route. You will sort mail at the office, then deliver by van and on foot, building relationships with customers and working outdoors in all weather.

Role requires a full manual UK driving licence, the ability to drive a Royal Mail van and pass a driving assessment. Expect 30 hours/week with overtime and a 5-day-in-6 pattern, including weekends.

Location: Carrickfergus Delivery Office, BT38 8WB

Job type: Permanent contract

Salary: £13.68 per hour* (paid monthly) + paid overtime available.
Working hours: 30:00hours per week – working 5 days in 6 across Monday - Saturday – 08:00/15:00*

What to expect

This role is physically demanding and fast-paced:

• Walking long distances (up to 12 miles / 20,000+ steps)
• Driving a Royal Mail van daily

• Busy, time-pressured days, especially during peak periods

About you

We’ll provide full training, a uniform, and an iconic red van. You’ll need:

• A full manual UK driving licence (maximum 6 penalty points, registered to your current name and address)
• Willingness to drive a Royal Mail van daily and able to pass a driving assessment
• Physically fit and comfortable walking long distances, climbing stairs / hills, and lifting / carrying 10kg+ mailbags
• Reliable and self-motivated
• Strong organisation and resilience in a busy environment
• Customer-focused, with pride in delivering great service
• Comfortable working outdoors and independently
