Job summary

Royal Mail Group in Ballymena is seeking a Postie (Postal Delivery Driver) to deliver letters and parcels from the Ballymena Delivery Office. This permanent, 30-hour-per-week role includes a rotating shift across Monday to Saturday and paid overtime.

Salary is £13.68 per hour, paid monthly. You’ll sort mail, drive a Royal Mail van daily and deliver locally on foot, while building relationships with customers outdoors in all weather.

Working hours: 30:00 hours per week - working 5days in 6 across Monday - Saturday - 06:50/15:40*

What to expect

This role is physically demanding and fast-paced:

• Walking long distances (up to 12 miles / 20,000+ steps)
• Driving a Royal Mail van daily
• Working in all weather conditions
• Delivering letters and high volumes of parcels
• Busy, time-pressured days, especially during peak periods

About you

We’ll provide full training, a uniform, and an iconic red van. You’ll need:

• A full manual UK driving licence (maximum 6 penalty points, registered to your current name and address)
• Willingness to drive a Royal Mail van daily and able to pass a driving assessment
• Physically fit and comfortable walking long distances, climbing stairs / hills, and lifting / carrying 10kg+ mailbags
• Reliable and self-motivated
• Strong organisation and resilience in a busy environment
• Customer-focused, with pride in delivering great service
• Comfortable working outdoors and independently
