Job summary

Royal Mail in Carrickfergus is looking for a Postie (Postal Delivery Driver) to join the team at the Carrickfergus Delivery Office. You will deliver letters and parcels by van and on foot in your local area, building relationships with customers and working outdoors in all weathers.

You’ll receive full training, a uniform and an iconic red van. The role is a permanent contract, 30 hours per week across Monday to Saturday, with overtime and benefitting from a generous pension and wellbeing

Qualifications

• Full manual UK driving licence (maximum 6 penalty points)
• Willingness to drive a Royal Mail van daily and pass a driving assessment
• Physically fit and comfortable walking long distances, climbing stairs/hills, lifting 10kg+ mailbags
• Reliable and self-motivated
• Strong organisation and resilience in a busy environment
• Customer-focused with pride in delivering great service
• Comfortable working outdoors and independently

Job type: Permanent contract

Salary: £13.68 per hour* (paid monthly) + paid overtime available. Working hours: 30:00 hours per week - working 5days in 6 across Monday - Saturday - 08:00/15:00*

What to expect

This role is physically demanding and fast‑paced:

• Walking long distances (up to 12 miles / 20,000+ steps)
• Driving a Royal Mail van daily

• Busy, time‑pressed days, especially during peak periods

About you
