Job summary

Royal Mail in Ayr is recruiting a Postie (Postal Delivery Driver) on a fixed-term 9-month contract. You will sort letters and parcels at the delivery office and deliver by van and on foot in your local area, building relationships with customers.

The role involves outdoor work in all weathers with rotating shifts, including some weekends. A full manual UK driving licence (max 6 penalty points) and good fitness are required.

Salary: £13.68 per hour* (paid monthly) + paid overtime available.

Working hours: 35:50 hours per week – working 5 days across Monday-Sunday – 08:00am/16:00pm*

You’ll work on a rotating shift schedule, including some weekends. Your rota will confirm your hours and delivery routes, which may vary based on demand.

What To Expect

• Walking long distances (up to 12 miles / 20,000+ steps)

About You

• A full manual UK driving licence (maximum 6 penalty points, registered to your current name and address)
• Willingness to drive a Royal Mail van daily and able to pass a driving assessment
• Physically fit and comfortable walking long distances, climbing stairs / hills, and lifting / carrying 10kg+ mailbags
• Reliable and self-motivated
• Strong organisation and resilience in a busy environment
• Customer-focused, with pride in delivering great service
• Comfortable working outdoors and independently
