Job summary

Royal Mail is seeking a Postie (Postal Delivery Driver) in Glenrothes to join a rotating, outdoor-focused delivery team. You will sort mail at the delivery office, then deliver by van and on foot, building strong relationships with customers in the local area.

The role involves working outdoors in all weather, a 30-hour week across five days (Mon-Sat), with some weekend work and a dynamic rota based on demand. Full training and a uniform are provided.

Location: Glenrothes Delivery Office, KY7 4NY

Job type: Fixed Term contract 9 months

Salary: £13.68 per hour* (paid monthly) + paid overtime available.

Working hours: 30:00 hours per week – working 5 days across Monday - Saturday - 10:00pm/17:00pm*

What To Expect

This role is physically demanding and fast-paced:

• Walking long distances (up to 12 miles / 20,000+ steps)
• Driving a Royal Mail van daily
• Working in all weather conditions

• Busy, time-pressured days, especially during peak periods

About You

We’ll provide full training, a uniform, and an iconic red van. You’ll need:

• A full manual UK driving licence (maximum 6 penalty points, registered to your current name and address)
• Willingness to drive a Royal Mail van daily and able to pass a driving assessment
• Physically fit and comfortable walking long distances, climbing stairs / hills, and lifting / carrying 10kg+ mailbags
• Reliable and self-motivated
• Strong organisation and resilience in a busy environment
• Customer-focused, with pride in delivering great service
• Comfortable working outdoors and independently
