Job summary

Royal Mail is seeking a Postie (Postal Delivery Driver) in Leven to deliver letters and parcels from the local delivery office. You will work a 30-hour week on a rotating schedule, including weekends, with a fixed-term contract for 9 months and paid overtime available.

You’ll be responsible for sorting at the office, delivering by van and on foot, and building relationships with customers while working outdoors in all weather. Full training is provided.

Qualifications

• Full manual UK driving licence (maximum 6 penalty points) and be able to pass a driving assessment.
• Physically fit and able to walk long distances, climb stairs/hills, and lift/carry 10kg+ mailbags.
• Reliable, self-motivated and able to work independently in a busy environment.
• Strong organisational skills and resilience in varying weather and pace.

Job type: Fixed Term contract (9 months)
Salary: £13.68 per hour* (paid monthly) + paid overtime available.
Working hours: 30:00 hours per week – working 5 days in 7 across Monday - Sunday – 10:00/16:00*

What To Expect

This role is physically demanding and fast-paced:

• Walking long distances (up to 12 miles / 20,000+ steps)


• Driving a Royal Mail van daily


• Working in all weather conditions


• Delivering letters and high volumes of parcels


• Busy, time-pressured days, especially during peak periods

About You

We’ll provide full training, a uniform, and an iconic red van. You’ll need:

• A full manual UK driving licence (maximum 6 penalty points, registered to your current name and address)


• Willingness to drive a Royal Mail van daily and able to pass a driving assessment


• Physically fit and comfortable walking long distances, climbing stairs / hills, and lifting / carrying 10kg+ mailbags
