Job summary

Royal Mail is hiring a Postie in Ripley, United Kingdom. The role is a fixed-term, 9‑month contract with a rate of £13.68 per hour (paid monthly) and overtime available. Working hours are 32:03 per week, across Monday to Sunday, with some weekends and a rotating shift schedule.

You will deliver letters and parcels, walk long distances, and engage with customers in the community. Training provided, with full uniform and a red Royal Mail van.

Working hours: 32:03hours per week – working (5) days in 7 across Monday - Sunday – 07:10/15:10*

You’ll work on a rotating shift schedule, including some weekends. Your rota will confirm your hours and delivery routes, which may vary based on demand.

You’ll be required to work Sundays at (derby) Delivery Office.

About you

We’ll provide full training, a uniform, and an iconic red van. You’ll need:

• A full manual UK driving licence (maximum 6 penalty points, registered to your current name and address)
• Willingness to drive a Royal Mail van daily and able to pass a driving assessment
• Physically fit and comfortable walking long distances, climbing stairs / hills, and lifting / carrying 10kg+ mailbags
• Reliable and self-motivated
• Strong organisation and resilience in a busy environment
• Customer-focused, with pride in delivering great service
• Comfortable working outdoors and independently
