Job summary

Royal Mail Group in Ripley is recruiting a Postie (Postal Delivery Driver) for a fixed-term 9‑month contract. You will deliver letters and parcels, working a 32:03 hour week on a rotating schedule that includes weekends and Sundays at a Derby Delivery Office.

Training is provided, with a uniform and a red Royal Mail van. The role emphasizes being active outdoors, building customer relationships, and working independently in varying weather conditions.

Salary: £13.68 per hour* (paid monthly) + paid overtime available.
Working hours: 32:03hours per week - working (5) days in 7 across Monday - Sunday - 07:10/15:10*

• Walking long distances (up to 12 miles / 20,000+ steps)
• Driving a Royal Mail van daily

About you

We’ll provide full training, a uniform, and an iconic red van. You’ll need:

• A full manual UK driving licence (maximum 6 penalty points, registered to your current name and address)
• Willingness to drive a Royal Mail van daily and able to pass a driving assessment
• Physically fit and comfortable walking long distances, climbing stairs / hills, and lifting / carrying 10kg+ mailbags
• Reliable and self-motivated
• Strong organisation and resilience in a busy environment
• Customer-focused, with pride in delivering great service
• Comfortable working outdoors and independently
