Job summary

Royal Mail in Marlow is hiring a Postie (Postal Delivery Driver) for a 6‑month fixed term contract. You will work 30 hours per week across 5 days in 7, including some Sundays, delivering letters and parcels in Marlow and surrounding areas.

You’ll receive training and a uniform, with a rotating shift and a daily schedule from 08:30 to 14:30. The role pays £13.68 per hour (monthly) with paid overtime; Sundays at Slough occasionally required.

Qualifications

• A full manual UK driving licence is required with up to 6 penalty points.
• Ability to pass a driving assessment.
• Physically fit for walking long distances and lifting mailbags.

Working hours: 30 hours per week – working 5 days in 7 across Monday - Sunday – 08:30/14:30*

You’ll work on a rotating shift schedule, including some weekends. Your rota will confirm your hours and delivery routes, which may vary based on demand.
You’ll be required to work Sundays at Slough Delivery Office between 12:00 - 18:00 around 2 in 6 Sundays.

What To Expect

This role is physically demanding and fast-paced:

• Walking long distances (up to 12 miles / 20,000+ steps)
• Driving a Royal Mail van daily

About You

We’ll provide full training, a uniform, and an iconic red van. You’ll need:

• A full manual UK driving licence (maximum 6 penalty points, registered to your current name and address)
• Willingness to drive a Royal Mail van daily and able to pass a driving assessment
• Physically fit and comfortable walking long distances, climbing stairs / hills, and lifting / carrying 10kg+ mailbags
• Reliable and self-motivated
• Strong organisation and resilience in a busy environment
• Customer-focused, with pride in delivering great service
• Comfortable working outdoors and independently
