Job summary

Royal Mail Ludlow Delivery Office is seeking a Postie to deliver letters and parcels in Ludlow. You will work 30 hours per week across 5 days in 7, on rotating shifts that may include weekends, using a Royal Mail van and delivering to local communities.

You’ll receive full training, a uniform, and the support of a trusted brand. The role requires a full manual UK driving licence, the ability to pass a driving assessment, and you must be physically fit to walk long distances and lift mail bags.

Job type: Fixed Term contract (6 months)

Salary: £13.68 per hour* (paid monthly) + paid overtime available. Working hours: 30:00hours per week – working 5 days in 7 across Monday - Sunday – 08:25/17:45*

You’ll work on a rotating shift schedule, including some weekends. Your rota will confirm your hours and delivery routes, which may vary based on demand.

What to expect

This role is physically demanding and fast-paced:

• Walking long distances (up to 12 miles / 20,000+ steps)
• Driving a Royal Mail van daily
• Working in all weather conditions
• Delivering letters and high volumes of parcels
• Busy, time-pressured days, especially during peak periods

About you

We’ll provide full training, a uniform, and an iconic red van. You’ll need:

• A full manual UK driving licence (maximum 6 penalty points, registered to your current name and address)
• Willingness to drive a Royal Mail van daily and able to pass a driving assessment
• Physically fit and comfortable walking long distances, climbing stairs / hills, and lifting / carrying 10kg+ mailbags
• Reliable and self-motivated
• Strong organisation and resilience in a busy environment
• Customer-focused, with pride in delivering great service
• Comfortable working outdoors and independently
