Job summary

Royal Mail Group in Great Missenden is recruiting a Postie (Postal Delivery Driver) on a fixed-term contract. You will deliver letters and parcels in your local area, build relationships with customers, and work on a rotating shift including weekends.

You'll walk and drive, exposed to all weather, with full training, a uniform, and a rewarding role that keeps you active and connected to the community. A full manual UK driving licence and a driving assessment are required.

Location: Great Missenden Delivery Office, HP16 0AW

Job type: Fixed Termcontract (9 months)

Salary: £13.68 per hour* (paid monthly) + paid overtime available.Working hours: 30:00hours per week - working 5days in 7 across Monday - Sunday - 07:00/15:00*

You’ll work on a rotating shift schedule, including some weekends. Your rota will confirm your hours and delivery routes, which may vary based on demand.

You’ll be required to work Sundays on a rota basis, at High Wycombe NorthDelivery Office, from 10:00 to 16:00.

You’ll deliver more than just mail: exam results, birthday cards, business orders, and moments that matter.** It’s not always easy - but it’s always rewarding.

This role is physically demanding and fast-paced:

• Walking long distances (up to 12 miles / 20,000+ steps)
• Driving a Royal Mail van daily

• Busy, time-pressured days, especially during peak periods

About you

We’ll provide full training, a uniform, and an iconic red van. You’ll need:

• A full manual UK driving licence (maximum 6 penalty points, registered to your current name and address)
• Willingness to drive a Royal Mail van daily and able to pass a driving assessment
• Physically fit and comfortable walking long distances, climbing stairs / hills, and lifting / carrying 10kg+ mailbags
• Reliable and self-motivated
• Strong organisation and resilience in a busy environment
• Customer-focused, with pride in delivering great service
• Comfortable working outdoors and independently
