Job summary

Royal Mail Group in Llandeilo is seeking a Postie (Postal Delivery Driver) on a fixed-term contract to sort mail and deliver by van and on foot in the local area. You will build relationships with customers and work outdoors in all weather conditions.

You’ll need a full manual UK driving licence, be willing to drive daily and pass a driving assessment, and stay physically fit for long distances. The role includes weekends, a rotating schedule, overtime pay, and 22.5 days holiday.

Location: Llandeilo Delivery Office, SA19 7HR

Job type: Fixed Term contract (6 months)

Salary: £13.68 per hour* (paid monthly) + paid overtime available.
Working hours: 24:00 hours per week - working 5days in 7 across Monday - Saturday - 08:00/16:00*

You’ll work on a rotating shift schedule, including some weekends. Your rota will confirm your hours and delivery routes, which may vary based on demand.

What to expect

This role is physically demanding and fast-paced:

• Walking long distances (up to 12 miles / 20,000+ steps)
• Driving a Royal Mail van daily
• Working in all weather conditions
• Delivering letters and high volumes of parcels
• Busy, time-pressured days, especially during peak periods

About you

We’ll provide full training, a uniform, and an iconic red van. You’ll need:

• A full manual UK driving licence (maximum 6 penalty points, registered to your current name and address)
• Willingness to drive a Royal Mail van daily and able to pass a driving assessment
• Physically fit and comfortable walking long distances, climbing stairs / hills, and lifting / carrying 10kg+ mailbags
• Reliable and self-motivated
• Strong organisation and resilience in a busy environment
• Customer-focused, with pride in delivering great service
• Comfortable working outdoors and independently
