Job summary

Royal Mail Group is seeking a Postie (Postal Delivery Driver) in Grimsby to deliver letters and parcels, with rotating shifts and weekend work. You will sort mail, walk long distances, and drive a Royal Mail van in all weather, building relationships with customers.

Full manual UK driving licence is required, plus fitness for long walks and lifting mailbags. Training provided; benefits apply to contract length.

Location: Grimsby Delivery Office, DN31 3AR

Job type: Fixed Term contract 6 months

Salary: £13.68 per hour* (paid monthly) + paid overtime available. Working hours: 30.00 hours per week - working 5 days in 7 across Monday - Sunday with various shift times between 07:00-17:00*

You’ll work on a rotating shift schedule, including some weekends. Your rota will confirm your hours and delivery routes, which may vary based on demand.

You’ll be required to work 3 in 4 Sundays at GrimsbyDelivery Office.

What to expect

This role is physically demanding and fast-paced:

• Walking long distances (up to 12 miles / 20,000+ steps)
• Driving a Royal Mail van daily
• Working in all weather conditions
• Delivering letters and high volumes of parcels
• Busy, time-pressured days, especially during peak periods

About you

We’ll provide full training, a uniform, and an iconic red van. You’ll need:

• A full manual UK driving licence (maximum 6 penalty points, registered to your current name and address)
• Willingness to drive a Royal Mail van daily and able to pass a driving assessment
• Physically fit and comfortable walking long distances, climbing stairs / hills, and lifting / carrying 10kg+ mailbags
• Reliable and self-motivated
• Strong organisation and resilience in a busy environment
• Customer-focused, with pride in delivering great service
• Comfortable working outdoors and independently

**As a Postie, you're expected to securely deliver all items on your route, including handling and delivering election materials and certain items (such as food products or alcohol) in line with Royal Mail business standards.
