Job summary

Royal Mail is hiring a Postie in Bradford to deliver letters and parcels on a 30-hour, five-day schedule, across Monday to Sunday. You’ll rotate shifts at Bradford South Delivery Office and carry out street deliveries on foot and by van.

We provide full training, a uniform and a reliable van. Expect outdoor work in all weather, with overtime and a competitive pension plus wellbeing support.

Qualifications

• Full UK manual driving licence with up to 6 penalty points.

Job description

Location: Bradford South Delivery Office, BD5 7RS Job type: Fixed Term contract (6 months) Salary: £13.68 per hour* (paid monthly) + paid overtime available. Working hours: 30 hours per week – working 5 days in 7 across Monday - Sunday – 08:00 - 14:30/10:00 - 16:00*

You’ll work on a rotating shift schedule, including some weekends. Your rota will confirm your hours and delivery routes, which may vary based on demand.

You’ll be required to work Sundays at Bradford Valley Delivery Office.

What To Expect

This role is physically demanding and fast-paced:

• Walking long distances (up to 12 miles / 20,000+ steps)
• Driving a Royal Mail van daily
• Working in all weather conditions
• Delivering letters and high volumes of parcels
• Busy, time-pressured days, especially during peak periods

About You

We’ll provide full training, a uniform, and an iconic red van. You’ll need:

• A full manual UK driving licence (maximum 6 penalty points, registered to your current name and address)
• Willingness to drive a Royal Mail van daily and able to pass a driving assessment
• Physically fit and comfortable walking long distances, climbing stairs / hills, and lifting / carrying 10kg+ mailbags
• Reliable and self-motivated
• Strong organisation and resilience in a busy environment
• Customer-focused, with pride in delivering great service
• Comfortable working outdoors and independently
