Job summary

TeacherActive is working with a specialist SEND College in Sutton Coldfield seeking a dedicated Post-16 Teaching Assistant on a full-time, long-term basis. The role runs Monday to Friday from 8am to 4pm, providing 1:1 and small group learning support, helping learners with EHCP targets and personal care.

You will work with young people with ASD, PMLD, SLD and complex needs, using positive strategies to promote independence, communication and life skills while reinforcing safeguarding and

Qualifications

• A relevant Teaching Assistant qualification or equivalent experience supporting young people with SEND
• Experience working with post-16 learners with ASD, PMLD, SLD, complex learning difficulties or challenging behaviour
• Knowledge of Education, Health and Care Plans / EHCPs and individualised learning support
• Confidence supporting personal care, emotional wellbeing and positive behaviour management
• An understanding of safeguarding procedures and the importance of promoting learner independence
• A patient, resilient and adaptable approach with excellent communication skills

Responsibilities

• Provide 1:1 and small group support, assisting with individual learning plans and EHCP targets
• Manage challenging behaviour using positive strategies
• Support learners with personal care, communication, community activities and independent living skills
