Job summary

TeacherActive is partnering with a specialist SEND College in Sutton Coldfield to recruit a dedicated Post-16 Teaching Assistant on a full-time, long-term basis. You will provide 1:1 and small group support to post-16 learners with SEND, helping them build independence and essential life skills, with the day running from 8am to 4pm.

The successful candidate will have a relevant TA qualification or equivalent SEND experience, plus knowledge of ASD/PMLD/SLD and EHCPs.

Qualifications

• Must have a relevant Teaching Assistant qualification or equivalent SEND experience.
• Experience supporting post-16 learners with ASD, PMLD, SLD or complex needs is essential.
• Knowledge of Education, Health and Care Plans / EHCPs and individualised learning support.
• Must be patient, resilient and adaptable with strong safeguarding awareness.

Responsibilities

• Provide 1:1 and small group support to post-16 learners.

Salary: £95-£110 per day

Are you an experienced Post-16 Teaching Assistant with a passion for supporting young people with special educational needs and disabilities?

Do you have experience supporting learners with ASD, PMLD, SLD or complex learning and behavioural needs?

Are you patient, adaptable and committed to helping young people develop their independence and life skills?

TeacherActive is proud to be working with a specialist SEND College based in Sutton Coldfield, supporting post-16 learners with a range of additional needs, including Autism Spectrum Disorder / ASD, Profound and Multiple Learning Difficulties / PMLD, Severe Learning Difficulties / SLD and complex behavioural needs. The college focuses on providing individualised education, developing essential life skills and promoting independence to help young people achieve their full potential.

The college is looking to take on a dedicated Post-16 Teaching Assistant on a full-time, long-term basis, working Monday to Friday from 8am to 4pm. The successful Post-16 Teaching Assistant will provide 1:1 and small group support, assist with individual learning plans and EHCP targets, manage challenging behaviour using positive strategies, and support learners with personal care, communication, community activities and independent living skills.

The successful Post-16 Teaching Assistant will have:

• A relevant Teaching Assistant qualification or equivalent experience supporting young people with SEND

• Experience working with post-16 learners with ASD, PMLD, SLD, complex learning difficulties or challenging behaviour

• Knowledge of Education, Health and Care Plans / EHCPs and individualised learning support

• Confidence supporting personal care, emotional wellbeing and positive behaviour management

• An understanding of safeguarding procedures and the importance of promoting learner independence

• A patient, resilient and adaptable approach with excellent communication skills
