Job summary

Wilds Lodge School in Rutland seeks a Positive Relationship Mentor to promote high behaviour standards and provide emotional and pastoral support to learners aged 5–19 with SEMH/ ASD needs. The role is a temporary maternity cover, term-time only, with salary in the £23.5k–£29k range and a full-time equivalent arrangement.

You will deliver 1:1 and small group behaviour support, help staff develop behaviour management skills, and implement strategies to improve learners’ welfare and engagement.

Qualifications

• Experience working with learners who have behavioural difficulties.
• Knowledge of SEMH/ASD strategies.
• Ability to deliver 1:1 and small group behaviour support.
• Must hold a valid driving licence and business insurance.

Positive Relationship Mentor Wilds Lodge School - Rutland Starting from £23,500 - £25,000 (Actual Salary) | FTE: £27,399.10 to £29,147.98 Contract: Temporary, Maternity cover (until 16th July 2027) term time only To start as soon as possible. Job role

The Positive Relationships Mentor will support promoting the highest possible standards of behaviour of the learners at Wilds Lodge School, including:

• Involvement in developing and enhancing the behaviour management skills of staff working across the school and setting targets for improvement
• Implementing agreed strategies to manage and improve the behaviour of learners in the school
• Delivering 1:1 and small group behaviour support when necessary

To be successful: The appointed candidate will have experience working with learners who have behavioural difficulties. You will have a broad knowledge of strategies used for teaching children and young people with social, emotional and mental health needs (SEMH) and those who have a diagnosis of autistic spectrum disorder (ASD). You will know how to develop, provide and deliver behavioural support for learners and how to develop the knowledge, skills and understanding of staff. You will also hold a valid driving licence and business insurance.

About Wilds Lodge

Wilds Lodge School is an independent 38 week specialist boarding and day provision for boys and girls (girls are accepted as day learners only) for learners aged between 5 and 19 with social, emotional and mental health difficulties, set in Empingham, Rutland. All the learners at the school have an Education Health and Care Plan (EHCP). It was established in 2007 and aims to place an equal emphasis on the educational, social and psychological development of our learners. The key to the success of the school is a strong ethos, developed by a highly experienced and capable staff, and the strength of the relationships between the staff and the learners. We are a friendly school where staff are supportive of each other inside and outside of the classroom. We pride ourselves in ensuring all members of staff including our support staff have access to regular training. All our members of staff attend regular training on child protection; mental health and multi-agency working. All staff access a wide range of training on areas of SEN such as Autism, attachment and ADHD.
