Job summary

ACADEMICS is seeking a dedicated Behaviour Mentor for a Wiltshire school in Rowde to support children with Special Educational Needs (SEN). You will promote positive behaviour, emotional wellbeing and engagement by building trusting relationships and proactive, child‑centred strategies.

The role involves working closely with teachers to help children understand and manage emotions, develop positive relationships and overcome barriers to learning.

Qualifications

  • Has experience working with children or young people who require additional behavioural or emotional support.
  • Calm, patient and compassionate approach.
  • Understands that behaviour is a form of communication and is committed to identifying and addressing underlying needs.
  • Can remain resilient and positive in challenging situations.

Responsibilities

  • Build positive, trusting relationships that promote confidence, self-esteem and emotional wellbeing.
  • Provide consistent one-to-one support throughout the school day.
  • Implement personalised behaviour support plans and positive behaviour strategies.
  • Support the child to develop emotional regulation, resilience and appropriate social skills.
  • Identify potential triggers and use proactive strategies to prevent escalation.
  • Respond calmly and effectively to behaviours of concern using restorative and trauma-informed approaches.
  • Follow safeguarding, health and safety and school policies at all times.

Behaviour Mentor

Wiltshire - Rowde | Full/Part time available | £85-£110 per day | September 2026 Start

We are looking for a dedicated, empathetic and resilient Behaviour Mentor to a welcoming school located in Wilshire - Rowde to provide tailored support for children with Special Educational Needs (SEN). This rewarding Behaviour Mentor role focuses on promoting positive behaviour, emotional wellbeing and engagement in learning by building trusting relationships and implementing proactive child centred strategies.

As a Behaviour Mentor, you will work closely with teachers to help children understand and manage their emotions, develop positive relationships and overcome barriers to learning. Your support will enable the children to feel safe, valued and confident, allowing them to thrive academically and socially.

The Role

As a Behaviour Mentor you will:

  • Build positive, trusting relationships that promote confidence, self-esteem and emotional wellbeing
  • Provide consistent one-to-one support throughout the school day
  • Implement personalised behaviour support plans and positive behaviour strategies

What we offer

This Behaviour Mentor role provides:

  • £85-£110 per day, depending on experience
  • PAYE - Weekly pay
  • Full and Part time roles starting in September 2026
