Job summary

CER Education is seeking a committed Behaviour Mentor to join a supportive school in Luton. You will provide 1:1 and small group support to students with behavioural and SEMH needs, helping them engage and reach their potential in a safe, nurturing environment.

As part of the role, you will work with teachers, pastoral teams and external agencies, implementing behaviour strategies and monitoring progress to secure positive outcomes for learners.

Qualifications

• Experience working with children or young people in school or similar settings.
• Strong behaviour management and conflict resolution skills.
• Ability to build rapport with vulnerable learners.
• Commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children.

Responsibilities

• Provide 1:1 and small group support to students displaying challenging behaviour or requiring pastoral support.
• Build positive relationships to encourage engagement and development.
• Implement behaviour management strategies in line with school policies.
• Support SEMH needs, helping develop emotional regulation and social skills.
• Collaborate with teaching staff, SENCOs, and external agencies for best outcomes.
• Monitor, record and report student progress, behaviour and attendance.
• Promote positive behaviour, resilience and self-confidence inside and outside the classroom.
• Support students during lessons, breaks and interventions as required.

Behaviour Mentor

Salary: £90 – £120 per day / Pay to Scale (annum)
Contract Type: Temp to Perm

Role Overview

We are seeking a committed and resilient Behaviour Mentor to join a supportive and inclusive school in Luton. This is an excellent opportunity for an individual who is passionate about making a positive impact on young people’s lives by supporting students with behavioural, social, emotional, and mental health (SEMH) needs.

As a Behaviour Mentor, you will play a key role in helping students overcome barriers to learning, improve engagement, and achieve their full potential within a safe and nurturing educational environment.

As a Behaviour Mentor, you will:

• Provide 1:1 and small group support to students displaying challenging behaviour or requiring additional pastoral support.
• Build positive and trusting relationships with students to encourage engagement and personal development.
• Implement behaviour management strategies in line with school policies and individual support plans.
• Support students with SEMH needs, helping them develop emotional regulation and social skills.
• Work collaboratively with teaching staff, pastoral teams, SENCOs, and external agencies to ensure the best outcomes for students.
• Monitor, record, and report on student progress, behaviour, and attendance.
• Promote positive behaviour, resilience, and self-confidence both inside and outside the classroom.
• Support students during lessons, break times, and intervention sessions as required.

Requirements:

• Previous experience working with children or young people in a school, alternative provision, youth work, mentoring, or similar setting.
• Strong behaviour management and conflict resolution skills.
• Ability to build rapport with vulnerable and disengaged learners.
• Patience, resilience, and a proactive approach to supporting students.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.A genuine passion for helping young people succeed.
• Commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children.
• Ability to commute reliably to Luton.
