Job summary

Teaching Personnel Ltd. is seeking a dedicated Positive Behaviour Mentor to support pupils in a specialist ALN provision in Carmarthen. The role focuses on behaviour support, emotional regulation, and helping learners engage with learning in a safe, supportive environment.

You will work with learners who need structure, routine, and positive relationships to build confidence and independence, with collaborative support from a dedicated team and ongoing training opportunities.

Qualifications

• Experience in education is beneficial but not essential.
• Understanding of ALN/ASC/SEMH needs is advantageous.

Responsibilities

• Providing 1:1 and small-group support for pupils with ALN and SEMH needs
• Supporting learners with Autism, anxiety, emotional regulation difficulties, and social communication challenges
• Using trauma-informed and restorative approaches to positively manage behaviours that challenge
• Creating a calm, predictable, and nurturing learning environment
• Collaborating with teaching staff, ALN professionals, therapists, parents, and pastoral teams
• Supporting pupils during lessons, breaktimes, transitions, and intervention sessions
• Encouraging positive engagement with learning and school routines
• Implementing behaviour support plans and individual learning strategies
• Celebrating progress and helping pupils achieve personalised goals

Some young people need more than academic support. They need a trusted adult who can help them regulate emotions, build confidence, overcome barriers, and believe in their potential.

Teaching Personnel is seeking a dedicated and resilient Positive Behaviour Mentor to support pupils within a highly specialised secondary ALN provision in Carmarthen. The setting supports learners with a range of complex additional learning needs, including Autism Spectrum Conditions (ASC), Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs, communication difficulties, anxiety, trauma-related behaviours, sensory needs, and pupils who may struggle in a mainstream environment.

This role is ideal for someone passionate about supporting vulnerable young people and helping them achieve positive outcomes both academically and personally.

As a Positive Behaviour Mentor, you will become a key part of a specialist team, providing consistent support to pupils who require additional guidance with behaviour, emotional regulation, communication, social interaction, and engagement in learning.

You will work closely with learners who benefit from structure, routine, patience, and positive relationships, helping them develop the skills and confidence needed to succeed.
