Job summary

TimePlan Education Group Limited is seeking a dedicated Behaviour Support Mentor to provide 1:1, small-group and classroom support for pupils with SEND and SEMH. You will help pupils understand emotions, manage behaviour and access learning in a safe environment.

This full-time role in South Manchester offers a supportive team, training across SEND and safeguarding, and ongoing professional development. Start date is immediate, with DBS checks and references required.

Qualifications

  • Experience supporting children with SEND or behavioural challenges.
  • Calm, patient, resilient and consistent under pressure.
  • Level 3+ qualification in education, childcare, psychology, youth work, or related field.

Responsibilities

  • Provide 1:1 mentoring, behaviour support and small-group interventions.
  • Support pupils with SEND, SEMH and behavioural needs.
  • Build positive, trusting relationships with pupils.
  • Support emotional regulation, positive behaviour and engagement.
  • Use de-escalation, restorative and trauma-informed approaches.
  • Follow EHCP outcomes, behaviour plans and risk assessments.
  • Support pupils to access learning safely and successfully.
  • Work closely with teachers, pastoral teams, therapists and families.
  • Maintain accurate behaviour, intervention and safeguarding records.
  • Promote confidence, independence and positive choices.

Hours: Monday-Friday, 08:15-16:00

Are you an experienced Behaviour Support Mentor, Behaviour Support Assistant, SEN Teaching Assistant or Learning Support Assistant with a passion for supporting children and young people with SEND, SEMH and behavioural needs?

A growing specialist education group committed to improving outcomes through exceptional education, are looking for a calm, resilient and compassionate Behaviour Support Mentor to provide 1:1, small-group and classroom support.

You will help pupils understand their emotions, manage behaviour, overcome barriers to learning and develop the confidence, resilience and strategies needed to succeed.

What you'll be doing:
  • Provide 1:1 mentoring, behaviour support and small-group interventions
  • Support pupils with SEND, SEMH and behavioural needs
  • Build positive, trusting relationships with pupils
  • Support emotional regulation, positive behaviour and engagement
  • Use de-escalation, restorative and trauma-informed approaches

We're looking for someone who:
  • Has experience supporting children or young people with SEND or behavioural challenges
  • Is calm, patient, resilient and consistent under pressure
  • Has experience with behaviour support, de-escalation or regulation strategies
  • Understands that behaviour can be a form of communication
  • Has excellent communication, teamwork and organisational skills
  • Can adapt support to individual learning, communication and sensory needs
  • Holds a Level 3+ qualification in education, childcare, psychology, youth work, health or a related field
  • Specialist/alternative education experience is desirable
  • Positive handling/de-escalation training is desirable
