Job summary

Academics Ltd is seeking a Behaviour Support Assistant to support students with behavioural, social and emotional needs. You will work with teachers to promote a calm, inclusive classroom and implement restorative approaches to encourage positive choices.

The role requires experience with young people, strong communication, and the ability to de-escalate challenging situations. An Enhanced DBS and safeguarding compliance will be required.

Qualifications

• Experience working with young people in educational or similar settings.
• Understanding of behaviour management strategies and restorative practice.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• Calm, patient and resilient with de-escalation ability.

Responsibilities

• Provide one-to-one and small group behaviour support for students with behavioural, social and emotional needs.
• Implement behaviour support plans and restorative approaches to encourage positive choices.
• Support students in managing behaviour, emotions and conflict effectively.
• Collaborate with teachers to promote a positive learning environment and minimise disruption to lessons.
• Monitor student behaviour, attendance and engagement, and maintain records when required.
• Build positive relationships with students, parents/carers and external agencies to support progress.
• Supervise students during breaktimes, transitions and unstructured periods.
• Follow safeguarding, child protection and behaviour policies.
• Attend meetings and participate in training and professional development.
