Job summary

Reed is seeking a Portfolio Manager who can operate with independence in client management and technical decision-making. The role involves managing a portfolio of clients with minimal supervision and maintaining high standards in financial management and client satisfaction.

Day-to-day includes setting up clients, defining scope and budgets, submitting management accounts and VAT returns on time, and possibly leading direct reports.

Qualifications

• Proven experience in portfolio management and direct staff management.
• Strong bookkeeping skills and quarterly VAT returns.
• Knowledge of cross-border VAT rules and related VAT concepts.
• Up-to-date knowledge of accounting systems to drive process improvement and efficiency.
• Leadership and ability to resolve issues proactively and lead by example.
• Ability to drive process change and seek efficiency opportunities.
• Understanding of chargeable hours, WIP balance, monthly/quarterly billing, and client recoverability.

Responsibilities

• Independently manage a portfolio of clients, including setup, scope of work, budgets, and executing work to high standards.
• Submit all management accounts and VAT returns on time, maintaining high review standards.
• Potentially manage one or more direct reports and review their work for quality.
• Ensure all statutory accounts are booked within 3 months of year-end and completed within 6 weeks of booking.
• Assess workload of direct reports and raise issues with Senior Manager or Director.
