Job summary

Bauer Media Group in Manchester is seeking a Senior leader to head Platform Development within Technology & AI. You will lead a team of approximately 20 platform engineers and engineering leaders, shaping a high-performance culture focused on delivery, quality and continuous improvement.

You will partner with Product, Delivery and Technology chiefs to drive roadmap planning, operational excellence and reliable, scalable backend services.

Qualifications

• Proven leadership of software engineering teams.
• Strong backend engineering background.
• Experience operating in Agile environments.
• Excellent stakeholder management.
• Technical credibility with senior engineers.

Responsibilities

• Lead and develop a team of ~20 platform engineers and leaders.
• Create a high-performance engineering culture focused on delivery, quality and continuous improvement.
• Partner with Product, Delivery and Technology leaders.
• Provide technical leadership across roadmap planning and strategic initiatives.
• Champion operational excellence, reliability and platform performance.
• Oversee recruitment, succession planning and capability development.
