Job summary

Brighton & Hove City Council is seeking a skilled Plasterer to join our Housing Repairs & Maintenance team. You will carry out plastering repairs and refurbishment across occupied council properties, delivering quality workmanship and first-time fixes where possible.

You will hold a City & Guilds / NVQ Level 3 in Plastering, work safely, maintain records, and support apprentices. The starting salary is pro rata between £32,061 and £33,699, with a standard 37-hour week.

Qualifications

• Hold City & Guilds / NVQ Level 3 in Plastering.
• Experience in plastering repairs within housing repairs, maintenance or construction is desirable.

Responsibilities

• Complete plastering repairs and refurbishment works to a high standard.
• Carry out fault finding, maintenance and installations with a focus on first-time completion.
• Work safely in line with Health & Safety and council procedures.
• Provide a professional, customer-focused service in occupied homes.
• Maintain accurate records of work, materials and risk assessments.
• Support apprentices or labourers as required.
• Ensure vehicles, tools and materials are properly maintained and used responsibly.
• Communicate effectively with supervisors and planning teams to ensure smooth delivery of works.

Your starting salary will be pro rata if the above position is term-time only. For part time applicants, where your working week is less than the council's basic 37 hour week, contracted overtime rated pay will not form part of your working hours. This is because overtime rated pay is payable for hours worked more than the council's basic 37 hour week. Your starting salary will be pro rata based on the basic annual salary elements of pay between £32,061 & £33,699. Please note that this post is subject to a Basic Disclosure Criminal Records Check.
