Job summary

Sofitel Heathrow is seeking a Plant Technician to maintain plant and machinery for safe, efficient hotel operations. The role requires hands-on maintenance, preventative tasks, and quick response to issues to minimise guest disruption.

You will work in a 5-star hotel environment, coordinating with sub-contractors, and ensuring compliance with health and safety regulations. Experience in HVAC systems and building services is highly valued.

Qualifications

• Strong knowledge of HVAC and building systems.
• Excellent understanding of health and safety regulations.
• 5-star hotel experience in a similar role is a plus.
• Ability to multi-task and adapt to changing priorities.

Responsibilities

• Maintain plant and equipment to a high standard with attention to detail and guest privacy.
• Carry out routine plant duties including filter cleaning and air conditioning repairs.
• Manage weekly, monthly, six-monthly and annual preventive maintenance across the hotel.
• Support energy reduction initiatives through well-maintained equipment and scheduling.
• Respond promptly to emergencies and coordinate with sub-contractors when needed.
• Keep accurate records of work, inspections, and parts.

A bit about what you will do...

Plant Technicians are responsible for maintaining the plant and machinery that keep the hotel operating safely and efficiently, carrying out both planned and reactive maintenance. The role often involves working independently, acting as an escalation point for complex issues, responding promptly to emergencies, and maintaining accurate records. A strong knowledge of HVAC and building systems is required, with a focus on preventative maintenance to minimise disruption to guests while ensuring full compliance with health and safety and statutory requirements.

• Maintain plant and equipment to a high standard with strong attention to detail, professionalism and respect for guest privacy.
• Prioritise and complete all tasks in line with departmental, hotel and statutory standards, within agreed timeframes.
• Carry out routine plant duties including filter cleaning, air conditioning repairs, temperature control, plant room housekeeping and BEMS fault finding.
• Manage and complete weekly, monthly, six-monthly and annual planned preventive maintenance (PPM) across the hotel.
• Support energy reduction initiatives through well-maintained equipment, effective BEMS scheduling and recommendations for new plant.
• Comply fully with all relevant health and safety regulations, addressing hazards immediately.
• Assist and coordinate with sub-contractors during repairs and fault finding on plant and equipment.
• Maintain accurate records of all work completed, inspections, inventory of parts, tools and spares.
• Respond promptly to emergency repairs affecting guest rooms, public areas and hotel services, including out-of-hours call-outs.
