Job summary

Peoplewithenergy is seeking a Piping Design Engineer in Bridgwater to support the HPC project, delivering piping systems, supports and mechanical structures within a highly regulated environment. You will collaborate with construction and engineering teams, perform piping stress, support calculations, and review design modifications to meet codes such as Eurocodes, ASME and RCC-M.

Qualifications

• Degree in Mechanical Engineering or related discipline.
• Around 5 years of piping design experience.
• Experience in nuclear, energy, defence, or other highly regulated industries.
• Knowledge of Eurocodes, ASME, RCC-M.
• Experience carrying out piping stress, support, and mechanical calculations.
• Familiarity with PIPESTRESS, ANSYS, RSTAB, PDMS or Navisworks.
• Strong communication skills and ability to engage with stakeholders.

Responsibilities

• Support site design activities and provide technical assessments for RFIs, field change requests, client queries, and installation issues.
• Collaborate with construction teams, contractors, and engineering disciplines to resolve piping and support-related challenges.
• Produce engineering assessments and recommendations for piping, supports, anchorages, and other mechanical structures.
• Review and implement design modifications to ensure compliance with project requirements and codes.
• Support closure of technical queries, comments, and open engineering actions.
• Work with CAD designers to develop and update engineering drawings and documentation.
• Perform piping flexibility studies, support calculations, FEA, and structural calculations.
• Provide technical support across systems including steel structures, cable trays, instrumentation supports, and HVAC.
• Contribute to continuous improvement of design standards and site documentation.
