Job summary

Framatome in the United Kingdom is hiring a JDO Piping Design Engineer to join the Hinkley Point C project in Bridgwater. You will lead piping design tasks and mechanical calculation activities, engaging with installation contractors and various interfaces to resolve design issues on site.

The role requires a Master’s in science or mechanical engineering, at least three years’ experience in mechanical calculations or nuclear projects, and knowledge of EUROCODE, ASME and RCC-M.

Qualifications

• Master’s in science, Mechanical engineering degree.
• First experience of 3 years minimum in Mechanical Calculation, nuclear industry, or equivalent experience.
• Knowledge of EUROCODE, ASME and RCC-M code.
• Knowledge of 2D/3D design and calculation software. If possible, knowledge of these specific software: PDMS, NavisWorks, PIPESTRESS, RSTAB, ANSYS APDL and WORKBENCH.
• Knowledge of piping and support calculation tools.
• Experience working in a multicultural environment.
• Curious, autonomous, rigorous and motivated to learn.

Responsibilities

• Piping Design tasks: Gathering input data, engaging with stakeholders, producing site RFI/FCR/NCR assessments, contributing to other teams, proposing modifications, closing comments, integrating stakeholder modifications, maintaining QA procedures, working with CAD designers, updating site design documentation.
• Mechanical Calculation tasks: Using calculation notes and guide drawings, performing analytical calculations, creating macros, conducting piping flexibility and support calculations, performing FE analysis with PipeStress, RSTAB and ANSYS, designing anchorages and bolted connections, providing support to other disciplines.
