Job summary

Crown Oil is seeking a Mid-Level PHP/Laravel Developer to join in-house at the Bury team. You will build and maintain critical business applications using PHP 8.5, Laravel, Vue 3, TypeScript and GraphQL, with real ownership and flexible hours.

You will work across our group of companies, handling backend services, SPAs, tests, and CI/CD pipelines in a collaborative environment, including Docker, Soketi/WebSockets, and Microsoft Graph integrations.

Qualifications

• Strong commercial experience with PHP, Laravel.
• Proficient in Vue 3, Composition API and SPAs.
• Solid MySQL experience and performance tuning.
• Experience writing PHPUnit tests using TDD.
• Hands-on with Docker and CI/CD workflows.
• Familiar with real-time features (WebSockets).
• Experience integrating GraphQL APIs.
• Exposure to agentic AI tools in development.
• Some proficiency with C# / .NET is a plus.

Join our in-house Bury team as a Mid-Level PHP/Laravel Developer. Build critical systems with Vue 3, TypeScript and GraphQL, with real ownership and flexible hours., You'll develop, maintain and improve business-critical applications across our group of companies using: PHP 8.5 · Laravel 13 · Vue 3 · TypeScript · GraphQL · MySQL 8.4 · Docker · GitHub Actions CI/CD · Soketi/WebSockets · Microsoft Graph · Claude Code Your role will include:

• Building backend services and features using PHP and Laravel
• Developing SPAs using Vue 3 Composition API
• Working with TypeScript and GraphQL
• Writing feature tests using PHPUnit and TDD
• Working with MySQL and optimising application performance
• Working with Docker and GitHub Actions CI/CD
• Developing real-time functionality using Soketi/WebSockets
• Building integrations including Microsoft Graph
• Using Claude Code and agentic AI tools within the development workflow
• Supporting and improving live production systems
• Participating in regular code reviews and technical discussions
• We're looking for a Mid-Level PHP Developer with strong commercial experience in PHP, Laravel and Vue 3 to join our established in-house development team.

• Experience writing PHPUnit feature tests using TDD

• We're looking for someone who can get up to speed with our technical environment quickly, with the main learning curve being our business and systems.
• Commercial experience with TypeScript
• Experience developing or integrating GraphQL APIs
• Energy sector experience, particularly electricity and gas metering
• Experience writing and maintaining Docker images
• Experience writing GitHub Actions CI/CD workflows
• Experience with Pusher/Soketi WebSockets
• Experience using agentic AI development tools
• Some proficiency with C# / .NET, Previous experience in simular role essential
