Job summary

Intec Select Ltd in Basingstoke is seeking an experienced PHP Developer to join their internal technology team, supporting the development and enhancement of business-critical CRM applications.

Working within a cross-functional Scrum team, you will deliver new functionality, improve existing systems, and help evolve applications to meet changing business needs in an Agile environment.

The role is hybrid, with one day onsite per week, and a salary between £40,000 and £55,000 per year.

Qualifications

• 3+ years’ commercial experience in PHP development.
• Strong experience with PHP 7.4 (CakePHP) and PHP 8+ (Laravel/Symfony).
• Experience building backend systems and APIs.
• Strong knowledge of MySQL, including queries and performance optimisation.
• Working knowledge of JavaScript (ES6+), HTML5, and CSS.
• Experience with Git, branching workflows, and pull requests.
• Familiarity with Docker and Linux/WSL environments.
• Experience with unit testing and automated testing practices.
• Understanding of software design principles and coding standards.
• Exposure to Vue.js/Nuxt, Azure, CI/CD pipelines, messaging technologies, or microservices is beneficial

Responsibilities

• Develop and maintain backend systems using PHP (Laravel/CakePHP).
• Deliver features end-to-end, including development, testing, and deployment.
• Enhance existing applications, including legacy CakePHP systems.
• Build and maintain APIs and backend services.
• Write clean, maintainable code following development standards and best practices.
• Contribute to code reviews, automated testing, and CI/CD processes.
• Support system design, integrations, and technical improvements.
• Participate in Agile ceremonies and collaborate with wider technology teams.
• Identify opportunities to improve performance, scalability, and reduce technical debt.
