Job summary

REESON Education is seeking a Learning Support Assistant for a Barnet primary school in NW9 to support children with special educational needs, with a strong emphasis on early phonics and literacy development.

You will work 1:1 and in groups, collaborating with the EYFS Lead and other assistants to create a nurturing, structured learning environment. The role involves supporting communication, play-based activities and daily routines.

Qualifications

• Experience supporting children with Autism (ASD), ideally within EYFS/SEND or a specialist setting.
• Good understanding of early phonics, phonemic awareness and early reading development.
• Calm and consistent approach when supporting children with communication, sensory or behavioural needs.

Responsibilities

• Support children one-to-one and in the larger classroom.
• Assist with early phonics and literacy activities, reinforcing sounds and reading concepts.
• Collaborate with the EYFS Lead and colleagues to provide a structured learning environment.
• Encourage language development through songs, rhymes, stories and practical activities.
• Support transitions, personal care and daily routines as required.
