1-2-1 Teaching Assistant for Early Phonics & ASD Support

Job summary

REESON Education is recruiting a 1-2-1 Teaching Assistant to start in October at a welcoming Barnet primary school. The role focuses on supporting a year one child with ASD, providing targeted literacy and phonics support, and helping the pupil settle into the new school year.

You will work as part of a close-knit team under the EYFS Lead, with opportunities for CPD and autism-specific training. Daily rates are 100-110 per day DOE, paid inclusive of holiday pay.

Qualifications

• Experience supporting children with ASD in EYFS, SEND or specialist settings.
• Strong knowledge of early phonics and basic literacy development.
• Desirable familiarity with visual supports such as PECS or Makaton.

Responsibilities

• Provide 1-2-1 support for a year one child while also supporting the class.
• Deliver targeted early phonics and literacy activities.
• Support phonics interventions planned by the EYFS Lead.
• Encourage communication and language through songs, stories and play-based activities.
• Adapt activities to meet individual children's communication, sensory and developmental needs.
• Use songs, rhymes and practical activities to develop phonological awareness.
• Assist with transitions, sensory needs and daily routines as required.
