Job summary

Practice Plus Group - Health in Justice is seeking a Pharmacy Technician to join the team at HMP Gartree in Market Harborough, Leicestershire. The role involves dispensing, stock control, and medicines management within a category B prison environment.

You will be part of a four-person pharmacy team offering a supportive induction, CPD, and career development opportunities. The position is full-time with 37.5 hours per week and a salary of £34,428–£41,658 depending on experience.

Qualifications

• NVQ Level 3 or equivalent and registration with the General Pharmaceutical Council.
• Continual Professional Development (CPD) ongoing.
• Relevant post-qualification pharmacy experience is required.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills are essential.
• Able to work unsupervised while following policy and procedures.

Responsibilities

• Provide patient-centred pharmaceutical care to inmates in a secure environment.
• Maintain medicines management standards and ensure records and SOPs are followed.
• Contribute to cost-effective prescribing within the Medicines Policy framework.
• Collaborate with a multidisciplinary healthcare team to deliver care.

The pharmacy within the healthcare department is responsible for dispensing, ordering, prescription rewriting, stock control, and medication checks. The team consists of four staff members.

• Monday - Sunday service
• 37.5 hours per week
• 7.30am - 5pm
• 1 weekend in 4

Salary

This position is full time, youll receive an annual salary between £34,428 - £41,658per annum FTE - depending on experience.

Main duties of the job

As aPharmacy Technician,your responsibilities will vary. You will

• Provide outstanding quality based patient centred care to our patients seeking out, listening to and acting on their feedback so that care is personalised and informed by what matters to them.
• Focussing on providing a safe and secure medicines management service, ensuring patient medical records are maintained to the agreed standard at all times and ensuring standard operating procedures are followed to a high and orderly standard.
• Deliver non-judgemental care within the scope of professional standards. Involving anything from the timely administration of medicines through to analysing cost effective prescribing as defined through our unique health in justice medicines policy.
• You will make a real difference by working as a key member of a multidisciplinary team of healthcare professionals.
