Job summary

Practice Plus Group is seeking a Part-time Pharmacy Technician for HMP Wealstun, a category C prison near Wetherby, Yorkshire. The role covers a 32-hour week with 4 days, including weekends on rota. Salary up to £35,548.16 per year, with vetting checks involved.

You will join a dispensary-led team of about 15 staff and contribute to medicines management, patient care and governance within a secure environment.

Qualifications

• NVQ Level 3 or equivalent required for registration as a pharmacy technician.
• Registration with the General Pharmaceutical Council is mandatory.
• DPD/CPD should be up to date to maintain competency.
• Post-qualification pharmacy experience is preferred, including prison/healthcare settings.
• GCSEs or equivalent education underpin your training.

Responsibilities

• Provide patient-centred medicines management and care within the pharmacy.
• Maintain patient records and ensure SOPs are followed to a high standard.
• Deliver timely administration and contribute to cost-effective prescribing.
• Work as a key member of a multidisciplinary healthcare team.

Prison located in near Wetherby, Yorkshire. HMP Wealstun is a male prison that focuses on training and education. The pharmacy has it's own dispensary and consists of a full team of around 15 staff both permanent and bank.

HMP Wealstun is a male prison that focuses on training and education. The pharmacy has it's own dispensary and consists of a full team of around 15 staff both permanent and bank.

Hours

32 hours a week, working 4 days. Weekend and bank holiday working included on a rota basis. At present it is 1 weekend a month (both days) however these can be worked together or spread across the month.

Salary

This position is part time, you’ll receive an annual salary up to £35,548.16 per annum, depending on experience.

What you'll be doing

• Provide outstanding quality based patient centred care to our patients seeking out, listening to and acting on their feedback so that care is personalised and informed by what matters to them.
• Focussing on providing a safe and secure medicines management service, ensuring patient medical records are maintained to the agreed standard at all times and ensuring standard operating procedures are followed to a high and orderly standard.
• Deliver non-judgemental care within the scope of professional standards. Involving anything from the timely administration of medicines through to analysing cost effective prescribing as defined through our unique health in justice medicines policy.
• You will make a real difference by working as a key member of a multidisciplinary team of healthcare professionals.

Qualifications

• General GCSE education or equivalent
• Able to work unsupervised whilst following policy and procedures

Although not essential ideal applicants would have experience in a hospital, community or prison environment.
