Job summary

Practice Plus Group is seeking a Pharmacy Technician to join the Primary Care team at HMP Oakwood in Wolverhampton. This fixed-term contract runs until April 2027, with 37.5 hours per week across shift patterns from 7am to 6pm.

You will be registered with the GPHC, hold NVQ Level 3 or BTEC, and bring post-qualification pharmacy experience to a multidisciplinary team in a secure environment.

Qualifications

• You will hold NVQ Level 3, BTEC, or equivalent qualifications and have current registration with the General Pharmaceutical Council (GPHC).
• You will also have relevant post-qualification experience working within a pharmacy environment and multi-disciplinary team.
• Ability to work unsupervised whilst following policy and procedures.
• Ideal candidates would have experience in a hospital, community or prison environment.

Responsibilities

• Ensure patient medical records are maintained to the agreed standard and SOPs are followed.
• Administer medicines timely and support cost-effective prescribing per policy.
• Collaborate with the multi-disciplinary team to provide safe, high-quality care.
• Communicate complex information with empathy to patients.
• Share information on medicines, optimisation, and regulatory requirements with the team.

We have an exciting opportunity for a fixed term Pharmacy Technician to join our Primary Care team at HMP Oakwood, a category C Prison located in Wolverhampton. HMP Oakwood is one of the largest prison in the UK, housing over 1,500 men. The Pharmacy Team consists of 10 Pharmacy Techs, 2 Pharmacy Assistants. There are 3 main houseblocks which have two dispensaries to work out of and three smaller units with one dispensary. This is a fixed term contract until April 2027.

Hours:

• Monday - Sunday service
• 37.5 hours per week
• Shifts covering between 7am - 6pm
• 8 week rolling rota
• Every other weekend

Salary:

Between £29,264 - £33,510 per annum depending on experience.

What you’ll be doing

• Ensuring patient medical records are maintained to the agreed standard at all times and ensuring standard operating procedures are followed to a high and orderly standard.
• Ensuring timely administration of medicines through to analysing cost effective prescribing as defined through our unique health in justice medicines policy.
• Work together to make a difference to all the people we support, and make Practice Plus Group, a place where each of us feels appreciated, challenged and supported to do our best work – fulfilling the lives of others.
• Communicate complex or sensitive information whilst demonstrating empathy and understanding to patients.
• Share information relating to pharmaceutical products, medicines optimisation, drug regimes, medicines legislation and general health education so that the multidisciplinary healthcare team are appropriately informed.
