Job summary

St George’s University Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust is seeking a Pharmacy Assistant Technical Officer (Band 2) for a permanent full-time role at St George's Hospital, London. The position covers a 37.5 hour week including weekends and bank holidays and involves technical services, pre-packing, patient services, medicines supply and homecare duties.

The post requires GCSEs in Maths/English/Science, Functional Skills Level 2, and NVQ Level 2 in Pharmacy Services.

Responsibilities

• Technical Services – MHRA licensed unit manufacturing aseptic preparations, chemotherapy, radiopharmacy and non-sterile creams, ointments and suspensions.
• Pharmacy Pre-packing – over labelling of medication, packing orders, receiving deliveries in our MHRA licensed pre-packing unit.
• Patient Services – Dispensing inpatient, outpatient and discharge medication from one of our pharmacy locations.
• Medicines Supply – Receiving deliveries, packing ward stock orders, placing wholesaler’s orders, processing invoices and general stock control duties.
• Homecare – Processing prescriptions, placing orders, processing invoices, liaising with patients, suppliers and other medical staff and financial reporting.

Person specification

Qualifications and Training

• GCSE in Maths, English and Science (Grade 4 / C or above)

Experience

• Experience working in a pharmacy

Skills

• Competent to read, write and communicate in English
• Familiar with basic principles of mathematics, especially arithmetic
• Proficient in Windows computer programmes
• Good at keeping neat and accurate records.
• Familiarity with CMM computer system
• Knowledge of stock control
