Job summary

Jollyes Pets in Carlisle seeks a hands-on Deputy Manager to lead daily store operations, coach the team on customer interactions, manage deliveries, and uphold high store standards. You will be on the shop floor every day, supporting the Store Manager and driving a positive store culture.

The role requires leadership experience, a passion for pets, and a willingness to engage with customers and staff to improve the shopping journey. 40 hours a week, with some evenings and weekends.

Qualifications

• A genuine passion for pets and people.
• Retail supervisory or management experience.
• Commercially confident on the shop floor.
• A clear communicator who can motivate a team and support succession planning.
• Has contributed to strong business performance and KPIs.
• Own transport with a UK driving licence.
• Full time, 40 hours/week, 5 days out of 7 including evenings and weekends.

Responsibilities

• Supporting your Store Manager in leading the team day-to-day, deputising fully in their absence and helping create an excellent culture and working environment.
• Running a successful store and helping manage KPIs around people, store standards, customer service, and financial performance.
• Helping build a strong sales culture in-store through coaching and upselling.
• Ensuring you and your team deliver the highest standards of pet care and customer service.
• Delivering exceptional customer service and a great shopping experience with product knowledge across the team.
• Supporting recruitment, motivation, training and development of your team and promoting Jollyes as an employer of choice.
• Sharing clear communication of key business updates and objectives.
• Genuinely hands-on and not office-based, with on-floor presence.
• Physically active role with heavy products and long standing hours.
