Jollyes Pets in Stevenage is seeking a Deputy Store Manager to lead on the shop floor, support the Store Manager, coach the team, manage deliveries, and uphold our customer service standards. This full-time, 40-hour role requires hands-on leadership, a passion for pets, strong KPIs, and the ability to drive sales while ensuring welfare and compliance.

Qualifications

• A genuine passion for pets and people.
• Some previous retail supervisory or management experience.
• Commercially confident on the shop floor.
• A clear communicator who can motivate a team.
• Has contributed to strong business performance and KPIs.
• Commercially aware, with interest in P&L management.
• Own transport with a UK driving licence.
• Full time, permanent — 40 hours/week, 5 days out of 7.

Responsibilities

• Supporting Store Manager in leading the team day-to-day.
• Running a successful store and managing KPIs, turnover, gross margin and costs.
• Helping build a strong in-store sales culture through coaching.
• Ensuring high standards of pet care and welfare.
• Delivering exceptional customer service and product knowledge.
• Supporting recruitment, motivation, training and development of the team.
• Sharing clear communication of key business updates and objectives.
• Being genuinely hands-on, not office-based, on the shop floor.
• Staying physically active as products can be heavy.
