Job summary

NFU Mutual is seeking a Personal Lines Technical Underwriter to shape underwriting strategy and risk appetite, with a primary focus on Private Car. You will use data-led judgement to support profitable growth and fair customer outcomes, while advising Agents and Underwriters and collaborating across Pricing, Sales and Claims.

The role offers hybrid working with up to 80% at home and 20% in offices in Stratford-upon-Avon, York, Bristol, Belfast or Glasgow, reporting to the Head Office

Qualifications

• Experience in Personal Lines underwriting, ideally Private Car.
• Ability to analyse portfolio performance and management information.
• Ability to communicate technical underwriting guidance to varied audiences.

Responsibilities

• Develop underwriting strategy for Personal Lines, with Private Car focus.
• Define risk appetite, terms and features, and translate guidance for Agents and Underwriters.
• Use data and portfolio analysis to identify opportunities and inform decisions.
• Provide expert judgement on risk rates and rating logic.
• Collaborate with Pricing, Sales, Claims, Product and regions to ensure consistency.
